This week we have listened to and retold the story of the ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’. The children really enjoyed using and changing their voices to be the different characters. They have also been very creative at making their own trolls in the craft area. While listening to the story, the children learnt that goats like to eat grass so we discussed their favourite foods. After that, we carried out a survey to find the most popular fruit in Nursery- strawberries were liked most! To end the week, we planted cress seeds for the goats and talked about what they need to grow. We are looking forward to seeing the results!
Can you pretend to use different character voices when you read your library book this week?
Next week the children will be learning ‘This little piggy’. The words for “This little piggy” nursery rhyme are used to point out each one of the child’s toes! Here are the lyrics that they will learn on Tuesday:
This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed at home, This little piggy had roast beef, This little piggy had none. And this little piggy went… “Wee wee wee” all the way home…
Fine Motor Challenge
Draw a pattern on a piece of paper and ask your child to carefully cover it using buttons/coins/pebbles. You could show us by taking a photo and putting it on Tapestry!
We started the week making porridge! We were very impressed with the children’s cooking skills and with how many children tasted, and thoroughly enjoyed, the porridge. The children listened carefully to the book of the week, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Many of them explored the props to retell the story and changed their voices for the different characters. In Maths groups, they used the language of size (big, bigger, biggest, small, smaller etc) to compare different objects and order them accordingly. They also spent time looking at their paper ‘Learning Journey’ and sharing their ‘next step’.
Thank you to all the parents who came- I hope you found it useful. If there is any area you would like more information on, please just ask.

Dear Parents/Carers, Letters will be given to your children next week however, hopefully you are already aware of the exciting upcoming event with Frederick Afrifa. On the 30th and 31st of January, he will be coming into school to do a fitness workout with all of the children (one class at a time). He will then deliver an assembly where the children can ask him questions and discuss his training. We are very excited to be working with ‘Sports for Schools’ with this event who support athletes in the journey but also give 60% of the money raised back to the school for equipment so they can continue to promote participation in sport. Please can we encourage you to complete your sponsorship using the following link:https://www.sportsforschools.org/event/sfs2051 Thank you so much for your support in this event.
